  What is the purpose of life?

  while reading the magazines the other day it occurred to me that jws never really had a very good answer to that question.

  because it was aimed at young people and it said something along the lines, "if you believe in god you have a purpose, but if you don't believe in god your life has no purpose or meaning".

  i think that is a faulty analysis of the situation.

  From Bob Hope Theater to JW Assembly Hall

  just a remembrance of the woodland hills, ca assembly hall.

  i am enclosing a partial copy of a wikipedia article covering the purchase and subsequent sale of the facility by the jw.

  i am enclosing the link and please pay attention to the bold portion of the document.. the theater project was backed by entertainers bob hope and art linkletter, along with cy warner.. the 2865-seat facility opened july 6, 1964 with the sound of music.

  I attended circuit assemblies there. I loved the design of the building with its rotating stage. It also had the 7 days of creation paintings hanging on the wall in the anteroom.

  I remember once a young girl from my congregation getting baptized in the small pool whose mother was desperate to see her daughter through the dense crowd. She wasn't able to make it on time and she was crying all through the assembly.

  DEATH: How have you prepared? Funeral, cremation, donate body to Science?

  well, hell!.

  i had dizzy spells and near-fainting and nausea for a few days, so why wouldn't i start thinking about death, ya know?.

  am i just very lax in my responsibilities in having no plans at all?isn't that irresponsible?

  I was once asked by my uncle what arrangements would I like if I were to pass away. After I finished telling him he asked who would pay for it. I guess that means cremation.

  i'm quite surprised about the new approach of some local congregation brothers respect about my fade.... funny, ilegal and very dangerous in view of the different laws regarding personal data and minorities in spain and in the eu.... i already organized a press meeting with main newspapers in spain.

  many has shown interest in this situation.

  the fact of that a parallel judicial system do exist is amazing them.

  This makes me want to send a certified letter to the elders that DF'd me threatening a big lawsuit.
  

  I also told them, in my judicial committee, that I would sue them and the leading elder just laughed. He's right; there's nothing you can do in the States. If there were you would need to have your attorney send them a letter on his letterhead. That might get their attention.

  By Way of Announcement, Darlene Jefferson Has Been Disfellowshiped

  i was watching a jw video where the announcement was made of a young lady's being disfellowshiped, and it happened in a regular kh sunday meeting.

  this struck me as being a bit...cold.

  is this when the shunning begins?

  What's Is The Goal Of This Religion?

  what's is the goal of this religion?.

  i mean, if it's for money they could do a lot more like other religions do: tithing, paying for prayers from the gb, selling "miracles", selling "blessed" items, selling courses.. if its for power then what are they hoping to do with that power?

  Their goal, until recently, was to perpetuate their numbers and grow. You can consider it the equivalent of a nation state conquering other nations or a corporation buying other businesses in order to 'grow'. In one word, expansion.

  Power over others yes, but what I mentioned is a form of power.

  They offer nothing of any value to humanity. At least the Catholic and Adventist churches run hospitals and other charities.

  Now wealth has been added to the equation.

  you found out about ttatt way back in the 70's or maybe the 80's (basically before the internet) and you thought that you were all alone in this knowledge?

  what do you think would have happened to you?

  no jehovahs-witness.com, no john cedars, no arc, no jwfacts.com and no crisis of conscience to fall back on.

  Crisis of Conscience did come out in the 1980s. When I was disfellowshipped in 1980 I became part of a "phone tree" of former JWs. That phone tree included notables such as James Penton; Richard Rawee; Randall Watters and Raymond Franz himself. Even with primitive technology I was never isolated.

  I did go to Christian book stores to read anti-JW books but they didn't satisfy me. I also managed to find an exJW by the name of Edmond Gruss author of Apostles of Denial who had a complete, and I mean complete library of everything the Watchtower had printed since its inception. He graciously allowed me to visit his library were I saw and read the really old $h!t.
